Scheduled Performances  for the 2023-2024 school year are in the class syllabus and  are listed below. All performances are mandatory! Please add these dates to your calendars:

• 1st quarter: In Class skills evaluation recording 

• Dates:  Monday - Thursday, October 2 - 5, 2023
• Location:  VCMS, during dance class

 

• 2nd quarter: Winter Dance Concert 

• Rehearsal Date:  Wednesday, December 13,2023
• Rehearsal Time:  5:30 - 7:00 pm 
• Rehearsal Location:  The Tracy Performing Arts Center @ The Villages High School
• Performance Date: Thursday, December 14, 2023
• Performance Time: 6:30 pm (dancers arrive no later than 6:00 pm)
• Performance Location:  The Tracy Performing Arts Center @ The Villages High School

 

• 3rd quarter:  Student Choreography Project Presentations

• Rehearsal Date:  March 6,2024 
• Rehearsal Time: 5:00 - 7:00 pm(students will be given a specific time block to attend) 
• Rehearsal Location:  The Tracy Performing Arts Center @ The Villages High School
• Performance Date: Friday, March 8, 2024
• Performance Time: 6:30 pm (dancers arrive no later than 6:00 pm)
• Performance Location:  The Tracy Performing Arts Center @ The Villages High School

 

• 4th quarter:  Spring Dance Concert (please review the parent communication for details)

• Rehearsal Date:  May 11, 13-15 2024 (students will be assigned a specific date to attend)
• Rehearsal Time: 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm (students will be given a specific time block to attend)
• Rehearsal Location:  The Tracy Performing Arts Center @ The Villages High School
• Performance Date: Thursday - Sunday, May 16-19, 2024 (Students will dance in 1 performance)

• 1 pack of hair elastics for class supply
• Items to make a dance bun (hair net, bun form, bobby pins, hair pins)
• A small dance bag or sling bag for dance clothes and shoes in locker
• Non- spillable water bottle
• Performance items (tights, make up, hair items, dance shoes specific for the performance
• Dance costume for performances (to be ordered)

• Females:  black tank style leotard with black leggings
• Males - solid black t-shirt with solid black exercise or dance pants

Dance shoes for class and performances

• Female - pink ballet & skin tone lyrical shoes or skintone jazz shoes
• Male - Black ballet shoes & black jazz shoes

**Please note that dance teachers will assist parents by offering a group order option for the dance class uniform items.  This form will be posted as soon as possible.  Students do not need their dance items until August 31st.

Bloch stretch canvas ballet shoes - Amazon.com

This shoe is a great fit and allows for growth.  There are also narrow sizes available.  

Fitting guidelines: Sizing: Start with 2 sizes down from normal street shoe size.Width Suggestions: B - Narrow C - Medium   These guidelines are for an experienced dancer fit which is very snug.  I usually suggest beginning dancers to have a loose fit as they adjust to the feel of a ballet shoe.  

 

Capezio Pirouette Lyrical Shoes - Amazon.com

This shoe is an option for our jazz and lyrical dances.  This is not an option to use for ballet class or performances.

This is a basic black tank style leotard in youth sizes.

This is a basic black tank style leotard in adult sizes.

Students will need pink ballet tights for the Winter Dance Concert performance. They need to be full footed or transitional and not stirrup tights.

You may select another brand of ballet tights that are ballet pink in color.  

Skintone tights will be needed for performances as well.  You may use the same link and select a skintone to match.
